ECO – CHANGE BY RECYCLING PLASTIC

ECO – CHANGE BY RECYCLING PLASTIC
Whole year , we throw away plastic to circle the earth four times. It has become an epidemic . The landfills are no more land fills but have taken the shape of huge plastic mountains. Much of these waste plastic end up in our  oceans, where its killing millions of sea birds and marine mammals every year.
To create this awareness among the coming   generation, I have chosen primary children of my school, KV2,AFS, Pune. In the primary classes, I took awareness session and explained them about ill effects of waste plastic. The gases emitted by plastic causes air pollution, which leads to deadly diseases. They were made aware of eco-friendly options to similar non- biodegradable plastic ones like bamboo tooth brushes, combs, ear buds, straws etc. Paper bag making workshop was also conducted. We can’t stop using plastic completely but can reduce it. Best way is to recycle it.
The sessions taken in different classes of primary had a great impact. They took a pledge about segregating the plastic at their home and school too. They created this awareness in their neighbourhood too. After a month, they brought the waste plastic to school. These waste plastic sacks were handed over to Rudra Environmental Solution India Ltd, Pune. They recycle these waste plastic into polyfuel, which is used as fuel for boilers and for cooking food.
This way we are making our children to be part of the solution and not part of the pollution. I am happy that we could convert these enthusiastic children of our school to become responsible Eco-citizen. Which will lead to  a cleaner surroundings for their own better health.
Our little Eco Warriors, who will finally bring about an Eco-Change and are ready to “Beat Plastic Pollution” for the sake of the mother earth.
